Product Description

A switching power supply heatsink removes the heat generated by the active devices inside an SMPS - the MOSFETs in the primary and synchronous rectifiers, the fast recovery diodes, and the snubber networks. Because switched-mode supplies pack high power into a small volume, component temperatures rise quickly and reliability drops unless that heat is conducted away efficiently. A purpose-shaped power supply aluminum heatsink is the simplest, most cost-effective way to keep those parts cool.

Our SMPS coolers are extruded aluminum bodies with a CNC-machined mounting surface and a shallow fin array tuned for the limited height inside a power-supply case. We drill and tap holes to match common packages - TO-220, TO-247, D²PAK - so devices clamp on squarely with good thermal contact. For enclosed units we can add standoffs, insulation slots, and mounting tabs so the cooler integrates without touching live parts. Every profile is customizable to your board layout and enclosure.

Engineering note for buyers:

Component junction temperature should stay below its rated maximum (often 125–150 °C for MOSFETs). Share the device part number, dissipated power, max ambient, and whether the supply is fan-cooled, and we will recommend profile height, fin count, and whether an insulator is needed.

FAQ

Q:What is an SMPS heat sink and why is it needed?

An SMPS heat sink dissipates heat from the MOSFETs, diodes, and rectifiers inside a switched-mode power supply. Without it, those parts exceed their junction temperature and the supply fails or degrades.

Q: Can you match TO-220 / TO-247 mounting?

Yes. We drill and tap holes for TO-220, TO-247, and D²PAK devices, with an optional insulated slot so the cooler stays isolated from live terminals.

Q: Do you make low-profile shapes for tight enclosures?

Yes. Our standard profiles run 10–40 mm tall and are customized to your enclosure height and PCB keep-out zones.

Q: What is the MOQ and lead time?

Samples ship in 7–10 working days. Small-batch production is typically 2–3 weeks; volume depends on quantity and finish. Flexible MOQ for first-time buyers.

Q: Do you provide thermal calculations?

Yes. Send the device part number, dissipated power, max ambient, and cooling method, and we will recommend profile height, fin count, and insulation needs.
