  • Product Introduction

Cold forging is an advanced manufacturing process where aluminum is shaped at room temperature to produce heat sinks with superior structural integrity, thermal performance, and design flexibility. Ideal for high-power LED lighting, power electronics, and demanding thermal environments, our cold forged heat sinks deliver reliable, efficient, and compact cooling solutions.

What is Cold Forging?

Cold forging forms metal below its recrystallization temperature using high pressure. This creates a one-piece heat sink with:

- High dimensional accuracy & smooth surface finish

- Excellent internal density & mechanical strength

- Minimal post-processing & suitability for mass production

Key Advantages of Cold Forged Heat Sinks

1. Superior Thermal Conductivity

- Made from high-purity aluminum (AL1070/1050) with thermal conductivity up to 226 W/m·K-significantly higher than die-cast or alloy alternatives.

- Ensures rapid heat transfer from the heat source to the fins.

2. Monolithic Structure, Zero Interface Resistance

- Base and fins are integrally formed with no gaps, joints, or thermal barriers.

- Eliminates thermal interface resistance, common in bonded or assembled heat sinks.

3. High Fin Density & Large Surface Area

- Fin thickness as low as 0.7mm with pitches down to 1.0mm.

- Increased surface area enhances natural and forced convection cooling.

4. High Aspect Ratio & Design Freedom

- Achieves aspect ratios over 1:50, exceeding extrusion limits.

- Supports complex 3D shapes, multi-directional airflow, and custom backside profiles for optimal component contact.

5. Material & Form Flexibility

- Compatible with AL1050, AL1070, and AL6063 using the same tooling.

- Fins can be cylindrical, planar, hexagonal, or custom geometries.

6. Capable of Large Sizes

- Our 3000+ ton presses produce single-piece heat sinks up to 260mm x 260mm and beyond.

7. Lightweight & Space-Efficient

- Higher cooling capacity per volume allows for smaller, lighter designs-reducing product weight, size, and system cost.

8. Aesthetic & Functional Finishing

- Aluminum surface accepts smooth anodizing in silver, black, white, or custom colors-no rough surfaces or paint that insulates heat.
